Case Study: Unique Event To Collaborate On Common Patient Challenges

Challenge

Analysis showed that across diseases, external advocacy groups and company brand teams were working on similar patient engagement challenges. Examples included activating patient self-management, overcoming stigma, addressing emotional support needs, improving physician-patient dialogue, increasing medication adherence, and other topics. This pointed to an opportunity for collaboration across diseases for a deeper understanding of common issues and a stronger impact on people’s health.  

Solution

This unique opportunity called for a unique solution. Parallax designed a first-of-its-kind summit meeting that gathered more than 125 advocates from 75 organizations across North America together with client executives and leaders.

Participants represented patients and caregivers from multiple therapeutic areas, demographic constituencies, healthcare professionals, quality organizations and scientific research leaders.

The summit was structured to share practices that were working well, identify key barriers, learn about emerging technologies and generate ideas and opportunities for future collaboration to benefit patients.

Results

Participants gained specific insights on how patients learn about their condition, become motivated to achieve personal goals, and about ongoing challenges supporting the emotional aspects of disease. Advocates and the client took away multiple ideas and new approaches for improving patient engagement. In addition, new connections and partnerships were formed based on mutual interests. This event became a defining moment that established the leadership and commitment of our client as a partner to the advocacy community.
